I got the same issue at some point. Youssician support told me why.
Here part of the Youssician support email:
“I would like to use this chance to clarify and give you a bit more information about Guided Lessons and their functionality. During the Warm-up phase you are mostly offered songs for which you have received either three silver or gold stars for each section and they should be +/- one(ish) level from your master level in the syllabus.
Learn stage includes songs you are working on; it can be songs that you have already played and received some silver stars on or new songs you haven’t played yet.
Explore phase includes songs that you have previously played but are missing gold stars on. In most cases, those are songs for which you need the least effort to master it with 3 gold stars. This is the reason why you are getting the same three songs. This is the expected behavior of the application, and unlocking those songs will not prevent this to happen again.
What you should do when you finish your Learn phase, and if the same songs are offered in the explore mode, is simply to go to Learn/Mission and load some new songs or already passed missions. Once in a mission, you can tap any of the videos/tasks/songs to play them. If you tap the arrow it takes you to further mission in the path. You can also tap any of the level numbers to access missions specific to the number you chose. “
The explore section offer you the song it thinks you are the most likely to get the missing yellow star. But it is not based on the difficulty of the song but on how close of getting the yellow star you been. If you focus on the section without yellow star, you get yourself a chance to eventually remove the song from those propose to you.
I believe this algorithm is broken in some circumstance. If you work very ******* an impossible song and miss only one note. Youssician will think it’s the best song to offer you even if you are sick of it and even if you have a lot of easier song with missing yellow star.
The algorithm works well until you get lucky on a song too hard for you, after that it push you that song in the throat every single time. I especially dislike how it repeatedly offers the same song in the same order every single time and abruptly end the explore section if you skip the three songs. Knowing that you can focus on the section missing yellow star to finally remove the song from the list is good to know but it would be much better if the algorithm would build a bigger pool of song to offer and present them randomly.
