Option to toggle the bouncing ball
The bouncing ball is great, but it is too much of a visual aid for keeping the beat.
I would like to have an option to turn it off, and listen to the metronome instead.

I also noticed that I play better when I hear the music/beat than I when my eyes are following the bouncing ball.
I tried not to follow the app but until I know the whole song there's a gap.
So it would be great if we could turn it off after having trained the song a bit -

This!
It's alright for when you are first starting out, particularly if the instrument is new to you, but as you develop your music reading skills and the songs get more complex and fast-paced it's more of a hindrance really.
There should be an option to turn it on/off. -

When will this??? I wait.
Seriously, I don't like the fact that no matter how far one progresses Yousician won't encourage reading rhythm from the notation. This makes no sense at all, because relying on the time signature and counting the beats will allow developing a better sense of the rhythm.
And, it's a distraction.

I agree with this feature request... I would like to have an option to turn off the bouncing ball.

I agree with this feature request 100%.
This is an essential feature to actually learn to play music rather than just play a game. Nobody has a bouncing ball during a real performance. The performance mode should ideally turn off the bouncing ball, or have an option to do that.

I've been using the "sheet music" notes instead of the colored ones so that I get used to what "real" sheet music looks like. This has worked great and I can see my sight-reading ability slowly improving thanks to that.
However, currently it is impossible in the app to turn the "bouncing dot" off. I've recently noticed that I've become overly reliant on it instead of paying attention to the actual note values. Moreover, at faster paces, I sometimes find the dot kind of distracting and confusing.
Hence I was thinking that having an option where only the current measure were to be highlighted would be a great alternative :)

4 divisions in one beat. 4 beats in a bar

Hi Team
My whole purpose of purchasing yousician is to prepare myself for professional playing and expertising the sight reading. But seems I can't achive it as per the current setup/control. Please enable more control to the player.A) Player must be able to switch off the bouncing ball. In the realworld you don't have a bouncing ball on sight reading.
B) Also please enable screen to display more Bars at a time. Usually it shows approximately 2 bars at a time.
May be you could provide option to the player to select how many bars he could see at a time, At least when you play the app on Laptop/Tab. The player must learn the counting and progress through the bars correctly, In the real world no body is showing which Bar to be played now.The combination of A & B it makes real world envirnment/feeling that you play with a band/other musicians and correctly following the sight reading.
Thank you -

We should be able to play with the feel of the music and time the notes well without visually timing it with the ball. This will help to sync and jam with the feel of music better just like in the real scenario where there is no bouncing ball.

Same here. I love yousician, as i wanted to learn the guitar since i was very small and an old fashioned music teacher utterly destroyed my joy in music at the time.
Now i would like to learn two things: play a song on my own without yousician and tab. And learn normal staff sheet music.
Don't get me wrong, yousician makes me very happy, helping me to play great music and relax at the end of a stressful day.

Agreed as it goes into a similar direction. Ever since I found how to show proper notes instead of the guitar hero style I was very happy. However, trying out my skills on PDFs from other sources I figured I am at a total loss when it comes to duration of notes, speed and rhythm.

I’m on level 3 on the guitar and I am having the same issue of remembering songs without the ball and finger positions given to me. I was wondering if anyone on a higher level knows if you start to learn songs independently on the later levels? Or is this still a feature that needs to be implemented on an update?

The notes and fingering gradually turn transparent in much the same way as the green highlight brightens and darkens according to the accuracy of your playing. The difference is the notes will gradually disappear altogether as you learn to play the piece by heart.

i do not like how the timeline accelerates during songs.
when you keep time, it is constant.
the timline should not be jumping or skipping around.
i would like to see the line move at a constant rate.
as much as i like the ball for aesthetic reasons,
it does irritate me at times.
i would prefer, if there were an option, where you can turn off the ball,
and just have/keep a vertical line, as time reference.
thank you for your time. -

As mentioned already by a few, it would be great to have an extra option after having a song all gold, to play it "blind", without having the fret numbers shown. There could be an option to make even the bouncing dot vanish from the screen while playing. By default I think it can stay, as it helps only with the timing, and the string to hit, which still forces you to remember what fret to play.
After finishing a song in this mode, it would be great to be able to check what went wrong. There could be two different kind of highlighting for notes that were played wrong, and notes that were good, but the timing was incorrect. -

I found that there is a problem for how to memorize songs. I solved it by first playing the song in practice mode until I have a little of feel for it, then I chose a song part, pause it, and play looking at the minimap of notes in the bottom. Then I try to play without looking. This works, but still would be good to have this improvement. I would suggest, to hide random notes and show some other symbol instead, gradually increasing the number of hidden notes

Oh, sorry, Unanonmyous.
When I wrote that, I didn't remeber that the is a "Play for Me". When I user Yousician, there was no Metronome function.
I think that Yousician should be more variate in order to present more possibilities. -

This is such an obvious and essential feature that I'm really puzzled it's not there already. If I could vote twice (or cared enough to mess with cheating the voting system) I definitely would. Just add an option of a default tabulature without timing ball - simple as that.
