Step-by-step in practice mode
Guitar Bots has a step-by-step option (the footprints icon) in practice mode that, when activated, stops at each note/chord if you miss it until you have played it. I find this hugely beneficial, because it keeps me from just making the same mistakes over and over again- I have to fix myself. I know I can slow it down, but when it is only one or two spots you slip up on every time it is a pain to play the whole song way slowed down.

To me is very frustrating the the song stops if you miss one note. Is it possible to disable this option?

Are they really not going to add this? It's so annoying! This would make this app so much better.

this would be great for piano also! particularly on songs with only 1 part and you keep missing the same part. Built-in reinforcement would be great.

Hello hope all is well no issue wit the app. I absolutely love it. I would like to offer an idea that I’m not sure exist but may be very helpful especially for me. I think if you guys could add in a “wait for me” setting for learning newer or even more advanced songs especially would greatly help. Like when you enter practice mode if you miss a few notes and try to get back on track it’s difficult with the sheet music moving. With a wait for me setting the sheet music would not move until it heard the note. Allowing you to play it at your own pace when in a practice mode. If this feature already exists I’ll be sure to double check again. But I feel this would be a great addition. Thanks be well!

In my opinion the user can already hold themselves back, or slow the tempo down, if they don't perform the song to their liking.
With the technology not being exact, not being able to continue until the app says so could be detrimental to business in my opinion. -

Having both options would be good.

May I add that your muscle memory needs to learn how to move your muscles in a fluid and controlled manner. That's why it's best practiced at slow tempo. Even Liszt did that for his whole life, and he earned his position as the greatest pianist ever lived.
I would suggest that you break the song into phrases and learn them at extremely slow tempo without a backing track. The original suggestion does not provide the value you want, practice technique will. That's something Yousician should be teaching more.
You may stop the song first to get the general idea of where your hands should move, but after that, you should practice at slow speed - as slow as it takes, and even use the play for me -feature and play along first. And listen to it playing. That will give you more and faster than playing one note at time while ignoring the rhythmic and dynamic structure of a phrase you're learning.

Another app has implemented this really well so it would be possible for Yousician to do this. The Jamtutor app for the Jamstik midi guitar has this as a default feature in "practice mode." The song stops unless you play the note or chord correctly. The user controls the tempo. If you play at regular speed and hit every note it sounds perfect.

I’m trying to learn to read the score as music and play the corresponding note on the fretboard.
This feature would take care of what I'm wanting. I could set the notes to be displayed instead of the tab and could figure out where each note was, then play it and it would only progress when I got it correct. Nice way to learn to read music score and the fretboard at the same time. -

I came on to this forum to post exactly this idea - but I can see it already has, and has been suggested previously as well!
I totally get where people are coming from when they say music is about timing etc. my violin teacher used to say the same. I am would LOVE to see this as an option though - it would actually help to build muscle memory when your hands have to do what the notes are showing, and over time, the timing would automatically improve.
I don't see why this shouldn't be an option that the user can turn on/off?With regards to stopping and playback in practice mode, for each note... this will take a lot of time and you'll end up playing with the app more than the piano! The option of only being able to progress when the correct notes have been pressed, will just make things smoother if the learner is struggling.
I just did some searching and found more suggestions for this 'Step-by-step in practice mode' suggestions under 'top requests' with 180 votes... Come on yousician - competitiors are doing it :C

I can see the reasoning against it but I also understand why it can be useful, in particular when you consider that the excercises in the lessons already feature this way of playing to begin with.
Playing the right notes in time is ultimately what it's all about, but when the practice mode is moving while you're still hunting for the right notes and the right order of notes to play, it's easy to miss a large piece of the melody, in particular when it involves intricate parts or hand placements you're not familiar with.
I'd be in favor of this feature as long as it remains user selectable.

Here's another one of this where I put it in more blatant words what I think of the idea: https://yousician.uservoice.com/forums/296820-feature-requests/suggestions/35863915-at-your-own-pace

Music happens in time. The accuracy of playing a certain note means anything only when it happens in the context of the time of the song. This is not practicing accuracy, to be precise.
You can do this by stopping the playback in practice mode and playing the notes one by one. I do this all the time.
I don't oppose, but I don't see myself using this a lot. But you never know, maybe I would. I would couple it with a metronome click so that I could have a goal speed that I could try to match.

Love this idea, this would be much more effective and engaging than slowing down the tempo to learn a section of a song.

Hey guys, can you please add your votes to the first feature request from 2015 instead? We should avoid to split our voting power for one feature into multiple requests.
