  1. Remove Background Music

An option to remove background music so you only hear your instrument playing, so that way you learn the piece with less help.

    Hi James,

Thank you for the feedback! You can achieve this by entering Practice Mode and choosing “Mute Song”. This way you can still follow along with your instrument but you will not hear the backing track.

    Rock on!

    Hi,

Fingerpicking is indeed part of Guitar level 7 (Rhythm part). If you have playing experience and don’t want to go through all the lower level lessons, you can take a skill test to unlock more advanced content.

    Hope this helps!

  3. Piano Tuning

Please allow us to record the tuning of our pianos. Mine is so poorly tuned that I have to play a half step up to hit the right notes. I'd love to see a feature where users can calibrate their piano with the iOS app.

    Hi Yousicians,

    Thank you for your suggestion!

Changes have been recently made and Yousician will now accept notes that are slightly lower (up to a half step) than the intended note. This means that, without needing to calibrate, you should be able to use a piano that is tuned up to a half-step down.

Do note that the backing track will not change, which means that the notes played on the piano may sound slightly out of tune when compared to the backing track.

  4. Make the Daily Goal Time Based and Based on Stars

I sometimes spend days (2+ hours per day) getting practice in on a song/level before I actually play it in Perform mode. It would be nice if my daily goal (which is ideally not just based on the usage of perform mode) factored this in. A daily goal should be based on guitar time in general trying to get better at a specific technique, and in many cases that is done slowly while "practicing", not just on "I'm gonna play this at full speed, let's see what happens"

    Hi Yousicians,

    Thank you for your suggestion!

Your daily goal can now be customized to include either a number of stars or minutes that you want to achieve. If you choose time (10, 20, 30 or 60 minutes), the time spent while practicing is also counted towards the goal.

The goal can be customized by tapping your username on the top left side of the screen and then tapping the daily goal.

    Keep on rocking!

  5. Music theory pathway for bass.

Just as in guitar and piano, bass should have a music theory pathway. We are missing out on updating the current lessons and addin music theory pathway.

  7. Set practice time for Mac/PC/Linux etc.

It would be nice if you could set the time you want to practice, so you stay consistent.

You could set a time for 7:00 A.M. and then set it to 7:00 P.M. or whenever, that way, you get twice as much practice in one day.

Also, maybe allow the time of the lessons to be flexible whenever is convenient for us.

For example: lessons are 30 mins, but maybe you don't have that much time that day, so you could change it to 5 min, 15, etc.

  8. Sheet music workout playlist

Until we get sheet mode option for all instruments can we get standard notation workout playlist in songs section? Yousician could create a few songs for each level that give opportunity to play both tabs and sheet music. If properly done, this could teach a player to decipher notes on staff and find them on tabs with minimum effort. This maybe done as a sheet mode option or by adding scrolling staff above tabs. Any modifications of this idea are welcome as long as staff and tabs are available for the song. Thanks a lot.

It would be really nice to have a page where you can see all the new songs that have been added through updates and such. I find myself having to look around for a long time until I find something I haven't already played.

    Hi!

Yousician allows (and always will) you to tune instruments that you can use with the own app. If the future brings a violin syllabus, you can be sure you will be able to tune your violin with Yousician! :-)

With that being said, what I recommend for now is to use the other app by Yousician Oy, GuitarTuna. You can download it for free from the App Store or Play Store and use it to tune a list of different instruments (violin included).

    Hope this helps!

  11. Add Option to Disable Note Colors FOR EVERY INSTRUMENT

Here - https://yousician.uservoice.com/forums/296820-welcome-to-yousician-feedback-forum/suggestions/11028657-add-option-to-disable-note-colors-add-this-as-a-c many people voted, and nowhere in the ask it has been specified that it's for Piano only. However Yousician rolled this out only for Piano and marked as completed.

Let's be fair and make the same option available for other instruments. Thank you!

  12. Set the price according to the country.

$19.99 is really a good price in the US, but in India it works out to be a whopping ₹1340 per month, that's a lot of money.

You might say, if you can't afford it then don't bother, but if you set the prices according to the country it will not only increase the number of people using the app but also the revenue.

  15. Sheet Music Notation for Ukulele

Echoing what was said for the other instruments! I can read music, and I'd like to associate notes with the written sheet music as well as with tablature and note names. Repetitive training makes the match automatic, and at that point I can start playing harp tunes on the ukulele.

  16. Weekly challenge leaderboards based on experience Level

I like the idea of the challenges, but for a beginner like me they are completely demotivating - because more experienced guitarists fill the leaderboard with perfect scores within hours of the challenge being posted. I would like the challenge leaderboards to only show those at your current skill level - so if I'm level 3, then the leaderboard only shows those on level 3. Alternatively leave the challenges open to anyone, but only those at or below the level of the challenge can post a score. So for example a level 10 guitarist is ok to play a level…

  17. Sheet Music Notation for Bass

I'm a bass instructor that teaches private lessons and when I saw you are now offering bass, I was very excited. But when I discovered that you only do the bass tab method, I was very disappointed. I teach my students to read the bass clef, and if this had a bass clef notation to learn by this would be a HUGE teaching tool for instructors and bass students.

Please consider adding bass notation for us bass players. Tabs make it easy, but no professional bass player plays from tabs. Bust out the notation and let's learn to play bass…

  19. Adding a Chord trainer for guitar!

    To whom is may concern,

I am not sure if I am missing something, but it seems that while progressing (playing through songs on the rhythm side of things) songs will often throw in chords I was never taught in previous lessons....this can be a bummer as I'll have to pause the lesson in order to see the chord form to practice.

If I may be so bold...I think it would be a great addition to your app to add a "chord trainer" that runs through ever chord taught within the app.

Something that only contains chords and can be…

    Hi,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback. Yousician now includes a chord trainer playable before starting any song with chords. This trainer will guide you through the chords needed for that specific song so you can practice them before performing it.

  20. Improve contrast to make notes more visible

Improve contrast to make notes more visible. I have real trouble distinguishing some of the notes that are above or below the staff. Not a problem with filled notes, but half and whole notes in some colours are had to see against the background. Could you darken the notes or lighten the background please?

Hi everyone, and thank you for your feedback!

We have listened to your feedback have now improved the contrast to make notes more visible.

This was done in two steps:
    1. We added a contrast around the notes in sheet mode;
    2. We changed the thumb color to a darker green on all modes so it doesn’t blend into the background.
